Five peanuts was definitely our biggest enemy so far, and Laura conquered it! Not only did she conquer it, but she had NO symptoms the last 13 DAYS!!! I cannot tell you how HUGE this is for her. I don't think she has EVER gone 13 days without some form of symptom or reaction. This was a huge, needed break for both Laura and I. And...hopefully a sign for the future :-)
Our trip for this updose was busy and we got a lot done!
We left early this morning, leaving after seeing Kirsti and Leslie off to school. Today Seth got to accompany Laura and I. Seth and Laura watched "The Miracle Worker" on our ride down. Laura needed to watch it for her honors English class since she is missing school today (her class is going to the play at the High School). They both enjoyed the movie, although it made Laura carsick. :-( I was glad when she felt better after the drive, I was nervous that she was really sick-which would have nixed her chance to updose.
First stop: Primary Children's Ortho Unit. AND....Seth got his cast off!!! Happy day for him! Not that he hasn't had a dozen or so cut off before, haha. The funny thing? He has gotten so good at writing with his left hand the past 5 weeks (his left-handed writing is now just as good as his right), he is confused as to which hand to write with. I like that kind of dilemma :-) His bones look good and Dr. Holmes said he could run and play again. A relief to his ears. He is super excited to get back to PE and running. And as much as we LOVE Dr. Holmes, we hopefully never need to see her again.
Next stop? Summerhays music. This was a fun stop too. Laura has outgrown her 3/4 cello and needed to upgrade. We have been renting from Summerhays, so it was pretty easy to upgrade. Laura is super excited to make the transition. (Although Tuesday night and Wednesday morning her super-sentimental side was showing and she had a hard time giving up the 3/4!) The new full-size cello had only been rented once, and is beautiful. A huge change from her very-well used 3/4. We also found a Disney songbook for cello solos. I foresee a lot of music at our house :-)
Next we stopped and wandered around Michaels. Erlend had a big influence on Seth's attitude to shopping while he was here. Seth has begun to forget that influence (thankfully), and he enjoyed Michaels with us. YAY!!! We not only got some awesome teal paint to paint our pumpkin (for the allergy aware teal pumpkin project), but got Seth some art paper and pencils to work on his new interest of sketching. We also had to run across the street to Barnes and Noble and find a fun kids book on learning to sketch. :-)
Third stop? Dr. Jones' office. I am not sure if we were in a goofy mood, or Dr. Jones was, but we had quite a few laughs during his time with us today. :-) Maybe it was because we didn't have to discuss reactions! And it has been over two weeks since we had to bother him after-hours! All good things.
So...Laura was given the all clear and she updosed to 6 peanuts. HUGE day! She just shrugs her shoulders and acts like it is no biggie, but it is. And she does know. Just watch for her dimples. That is her way of letting you know that she gets it.
After the office, we stopped at Target to grab a few Halloween things and more peanut butter. YAY!! Yes, peanut butter. And yes, we need more!!! And, Seth
And Laura? Despite have TONS of homework, went straight to playing the new cello and her new Disney songbook. I secretly LOVE IT! But HAVE to say, "Laura--homework!"
And Seth-straight to his new superman pajamas. Because he no longer has a broken arm!
