This weekend; my dad and step-mom, aka "Bumps and Bonnie", came to visit us. They have had a busy winter and were coming to deliver our Christmas gift. Last year they decided that they were going to start making our Christmas gifts, and it is THE BEST EVER!!! They put a lot of thought and love into it. This year they catered a bit to Laura. They wanted to give Laura something that would make it a little more fun to take her "doses." So, Bumps went to work. He is an extra handy kind-of-guy, and found an idea in the local nut store and "on pinterest". WHAT?????? He confessed this to me while he was here. That brought on more than a few laughs. Yes, MY DAD IS ON PINTEREST FOLKS!!! Not only does he peruse pinterest, apparently, but he likes to engineer and improve upon things. He saw something he liked and had to make it better. He had to "round up all the edges" and "improve the angle so it would flow better." He spent a great deal of time last summer and fall in the shop working on his idea. So..... HERE IT IS!
They gave the family one dispenser, and gave Laura her own dispenser and a bag of peanuts. She is still not super keen on the idea of dosing with peanuts, but someday we hope to get peanuts in this thing! Or peanut m&m's at the least. Given the fact that Laura is currently dosing with peanut butter, we HAD to try out something in these ultra, super-cool dispensers.
Laura still has not had regular m&m's. She was cleared for eating things that are "cross-contaminated" with peanuts quite a while ago, but we have not really incorporated much of those things into her diet. She has been struggling enough with her doses, for one. And, she is also allergic to tree nuts, so there really aren't a huge amount of things we can add anyway. M&M's were one thing that I had thought she could add, but I hadn't been positive, so we just hadn't done it. At Laura's updose on Thursday I had asked Dr. Jones just to be sure, and he gave us the go-ahead. SO....this was the perfect time for Laura to try m&m's for the FIRST time....
Dad ran to the store and picked up a big old bag. We filled up the dispenser and we gave it a try.
UHM, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!! Laura LOVES them, haha. Not likes, LOVES. ALL evening, she ran that dispenser. She simply COULD NOT LEAVE IT ALONE! But, what can one say? She has gone almost 13 years watching everyone else eat m&m's, having to say no and look the other way. Her comment was perfect, "I haven't had them for almost thirteen years, I have a lot of catching up to do." Laura deserves this night....
THANK YOU BUMPS AND BONNIE!!!! This was the best :-)
